Forseti's Star: Glitnir

Forseti, the God of Law and Justice, is the orphaned son of Baldur and Nanna. He was only a child when he saw his father murdered, his mother commit suicide to be with her husband, one of his best friends—Narvi, the son of Sigyn and Loki—killed, and Narvi’s brother Vali driven insane and turned into a wolf to run wild after being forced to kill his brother. Bereft of father, mother, and brother-friends, he swore to build a hall where complaints could be heard so that such feuding would not take place again. That hall is Glitnir, and it is reflected in the star Deneb Algedi.

Glitnir is the brightest star in the constellation of Capricorn. Its Arabic name translates to “the tail of the goat”. Other names for it included “the judicial point of the goat”, “the fortunate one”, and “the bringer of good tidings”. It was said to bring both happiness and sorrow, good fortune and bad, beneficence and destructiveness, life and death. This is very like the two sides of all cases which Forseti must oversee; it is said that no one leaves his hall unsatisfied by his justice.

Bernadette Brady says that Deneb Algedi is the star of bringing civilized justice to the world, reflected in the laws of the establishment. It indicates being both conservative and fair, able to work within the laws of the system to create the most good for each individual.
