Herbalism is the art of treating disease and physical imbalance with nature's plants, rather than with chemicals. Modern medicine is often overly harsh with many side effects, as well as being expensive and inadequate for maintenance and prevention.

Properly administered, herbs are usually safer, gentler, and have fewer side effects. They are also excellent for correcting underlying problems of the body rather than simply treating symptoms. Herbalism is good for anything from liver problems to menstrual issues to sprained ankles. Shamanic herbalism, however, is particularly appropriate for problems that have not responded very well to conventional medical treatment.

What's special about shamanic herbalism is that it doesn't stop simply with plant medicines. Shamans work with the spirits of this world and others in order to make positive change in people's lives -- in the case of shamanic herbalism, usually the overarching spirit of the plants used to heal. What this means is that you will be treated with herbs, and then the spirits of those herbs will be sung into you, where they will direct the healing energy of the plant. Specific points on your body will be pressed and used as doors to let the spirits enter. I might shamanically journey inside the ecosystem of your body to find or correct energetic imbalances. Spirit-energy might be drummed into you with a healing drum, or in serious cases negative energy might be pulled out of you.

Please Note: I do not practice any form of Native American spirituality. My shamanic techniques are derived from my understanding of ancient northern Eurasian practices. These are the spiritual practices of my ancestors. Please see my Questions and Answers about Northern-Tradition Shamanism for more information.

Treatment Information

Your initial consultation is free, and there is no obligation to get treatment. Fees for treatment sessions are on a sliding scale from $30-$50. You pay what you feel you can afford. The cost of the herbs themselves will vary, but the average course of treatment is $20-$40. Sessions and consultations are approximately an hour long, but may be significantly longer or shorter depending on your needs. To schedule a consultation, email me at cauldronfarm@hotmail.com, or call me at Cauldron Farm, 978-928-4198.

During a consultation, we will discuss your health issues in depth and I will use a variety of methods to understand your condition more thoroughly. This is also a good time to find out if there are spiritual or psychological issues that are affecting physical problems. We will discuss what type of treatment might be right for you, and then you can decide yourself whether to make a second appointment for the treatment. If the herbs are not available by your treatment appointment, they can be mailed to you. Further follow-ups can be by phone, email or in person as needed.

Please have a clear understanding of your health concerns, how they effect you presently, and how they have changed over time. You might want to make a list before you come. Please also write down the names of any medications and supplements that you are taking, or bring them with you to the consultation. You may email this information to me at cauldronfarm@hotmail.com, if you would like me to review it prior to the consultation. You will not have to undress, although you might have to remove shoes and socks. Please do not eat for about an hour before the consultation, and don't wear makeup, perfume, or hairspray.

I can also provide shamanic consultations for problems other than health. This is not psychological counseling or talk therapy. Please contact me for further information.
